SEMINARS
What others have to say about our seminars:
"Chris Chauncey has done an excellent job gathering, organizing, and presenting information about earthquakes in our area." Steven Pynes, Stake President, Carlsbad Stake, LDS Church
"I enjoyed your presentation last night. From what I saw and heard last night, it appears that your training is generally consistent with the local and state messages on preparedness." David Harrison, Emergency Preparedness Manager, City of Carlsbad
"Chris was certainly knowledgeable and very prepared and gave a very good presentation. I think his abundance of information showed how serious we need to take these potential and more likely imminent disasters. More than anything, he inspired the people there to do something to be prepared. It's interesting that with the earthquake back East and now the hurricane, emergency preparedness needs to be on everyone's mind." Paul Spring, Stake President, San Diego Stake, LDS Church
"Al Cabacungan and I have been involved in disaster preparedness in our local community for many years. He has spent many hours volunteering his time, collaborating with me on several disaster prep opportunities. Al continues to "walk the talk" with his enthusiastic efforts to help prepare and supply the community for disasters." Ken Matsumoto - Oceanside Fire Department Division Chief/CERT Coordinator, retired

Public & Sponsored Seminars
Our high-energy seminars are one-hour in length - but we can adjust the time to meet the needs of your group. The focus of the seminar is emergency preparedness. The presentation can be divided into three parts: 1. Understanding what the dangers are, 2. Know what disruptions will occur as a result of these disasters, 3. How to be prepared for these disruptions.
Because the threat of a San Andreas earthquake in Southern California is very real, it is important that the residents understand how its rupture will impact their lives. The purpose of our education is to motivate people to take action and prepare. Knowing what to do before, during and after an earthquake of this magnitude will not only save lives, it will help us survive during the recovery process.
The content of this presentation is developed from extensive research. We have collected information from interviewing scientists, seismologists, and local and state authorities. We have researched the documentation from the California Earthquake authority, the Red Cross, FEMA and other state and local agencies. Our content is based on fact and not from myth, rumor, or personal opinion.
We provide presentations to schools, churches, businesses, or associations with groups of 50 or more at no charge.

Seminar Outline
I. What could happen?
Understanding the potential threats in your area. How real are the threats of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanos, fires, etc. Where are the fault lines, what size is expected and what kind of damage will be realized?
II. What disruptions will we experience?
More important than the damage itself is knowing what disruptions will be caused by the disasters. How will it impact road travel? Will it create water shortages? What will happen with the power in your area - how long could you be without? Will there be food shortages? Will the ATM's be working - how will I get cash? Medical care? All of these things will cause difficulties for those in the path of a natural disaster.
III. What do we need to do to survive?
The most important information is understanding what someone needs to do to prepare for the possible disruptions. What steps need to be taken to make sure that you and your family survive?
1. Create a plan. What to do before, during and after a disaster?
2. Store plenty of water. How much should you store? How do you properly store and care for it?
3. Store an adequate food supply. How much do you need? How to store it & rotate it? What types of foods should you store?
4. Have adequate sources of alternative power. If the power goes out for a long period of time, what will you use for communication? How will you cook your food or heat your water? Lights and radio?
5. Build a 72-hr emergency kit. In the event that someone is forced to evacuate, there are specific items that one needs to have ready to carry with them. There is no time to pack when seconds make the difference between life and death? If medical attention is needed what supplies do you want to have available?
IMPORTANT: For those that have additional questions or concerns we give the opportunity for an individual consultation after the seminar.
