Some of the things you will learn include - Steps to safeguarding your home, how to protect yourself during the earthquake, what disruptions will you expect after that will have an impact on you, and why the first 72-hours are critical. (The Southern California version discusses the details of a San Andreas Rupture).
Tsunami Preparedness - Especially important for those that live along a coast! You will learn how a tsunami works and the warning signs if you are near a beach. You will learn about the two types of tsunamis along the California coast that pose a threat and how you can calculate the inundation line for your area.

Disaster Preparedness - We offer separate courses on developing a Personal & Business Disaster Plan. We offer specific courses as they pertain to the disasters in your area (one on Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Fires, Etc.) From this course you will learn of the importance of developing a plan and to implement it.
As part of disaster preparedness we teach you about: 1. Water Storage and Treatment; how much to store, what to store it in, how to maintain stored water, and ways that you can filter and treat contaminated water. 2. Food Storage; what to store, how to rotate it, and how much you should have on hand. 3. Building a 72-hr Kit; What a 72-hour kit is, how to put one together, what needs to go in it, and what to watch for in buying a pre-built kit. 4. What to do when the Power goes Out; what power sources can you use for lights, communications, cooking, heating, etc. Protecting your computer. Pros and Cons of different sources.
